About Ember + Sage Candle Co.

Ember + Sage Candle Co. studio space with white shiplap walls, concrete floor with beautiful hand spun Turkish rugs, a work bench made from worn Douglas fir wood and old oak drawers, and a century old brick vault that houses freshly poured candles in amber vessels that have begun the curing process

What can we say?

We’re sentimental.
We’re romantics.
We believe the best things in life carry a story.

We're the kind of people who wander the aisles of a thrift store, daydreaming about the previous lives once attached to dusty photographs, worn leather trunks + chipped teacups. When we set out to create our candle studio, we knew it had to reflect that same spirit, a space built from history, heart + forgotten things made new again.

Tucked away below a Nebraska highway in a historic bank, we uncovered remnants of the past: weathered wood, old crates, a century-old vault + even a shelf top etched with a note from 1955, left behind by long-gone contractors:
“R.J. Koehler & V.G. Leach | May 17, 1955 | installed safe deposit boxes | feeling poor | too darn much demand.”

Douglas fit workbench that says “R.J. Koehler & V.G. Leach — May 17, 1955 — installed safe deposit boxes — feeling poor — too darn much demand.” with metal backlit signs that reads "Ember + Sage Candle Co." on white shiplap studio walls.

That note now lives forever in our workspace, built from those very relics: Douglas fir flooring turned shiplap walls, vintage crates repurposed into work benches + the vault itself, where our candles cure to perfection behind thick brick walls.

We love history. We love a good story.

And that’s what Ember + Sage is all about.

Yes, we pour premium, small-batch candles with high-grade, U.S.-made ingredients. But more importantly, we pour meaning into every vessel. Every scent has a purpose, a place, a memory attached.

Light one + you’re transported:

  • To a Nebraska Sandhills sunset, where the sky stretches for miles.
  • To the soft hum of the Niobrara River, meadowlarks overhead.
  • To Grandma’s house on a breezy spring afternoon, lilac blooms pouring through open windows.
  • To the cliffs of Snake River Canyon, fresh air filling your lungs as you swing for the fairway.

At Ember + Sage, even our name holds a story.

An ember is what remains when the flames die down: a quiet, glowing spark with the power to reignite a fire. It represents warmth, memory + resilience. In a world that moves too fast, embers remind us to slow down, to savor the beauty in quiet moments + to carry the warmth of the past into the future.

On the Nebraska Sandhills prairie, wild sage grows in silver-green waves, its scent carried by the wind, a quiet witness to centuries of life on the plains, a symbol of wisdom, cleansing + renewal. It reminds us to create spaces filled with meaning, to surround ourselves with things that bring peace + tell a story.

We are about preserving the spark of what matters: stories, spaces + the simple rituals that ground us. It’s about honoring the past while intentionally curating the present. Every candle we pour carries a piece of that spirit: warmth, wisdom, memory + light.

At Ember + Sage, we don’t just make candles.

We tell stories.

We hold onto moments worth remembering.

Burn beautifully.
